The only card series I ever got into was the 200 card G.I.JOE Impel series. I finally completed it last year after working on it for 30 years. Back in the 90s, card series were an awesome way to learn and get the back history. The artwork was often amazing. Hopefully, I'll someday finish up the 1992 Impel G.I. Joe Hall of Fame 20 card series and the 1993 Impel series for the abandoned G.I.JOE movie. Another interesting card series to me is the Operation Desert Storm series.

I was NEVER a card collector but I was the exact right age for the 1980s Garbage Pail Kids craze. I have vague memories of riding my diamond back down the street to the Stop-N-Go and buying packs of GPKs. For some reason, this memory even has a soundtrack. Cyndi Lauper's "Goonies R Good Enough" Some of the art in those Wolverine cards you have reminded me of another sticker set that I collected at the tail end of 80s. Marvel had a great sticker set out, slightly smaller than cards. The stickers featured iconic comic images printed on super glossy paper stock. I never stuck them to anything, just collected them as cards. This also reminds of the Pannii sticker books from the 80s. I only collected and finished the Voltron Pannii book but I was proud of that and it was impressive at the time

When I was your age I also started to wonder just exactly what would happen to my THOUSANDS of toys I’d been collecting pretty much since I can remember. As the years kept passing I found myself slowing down on collecting and passing up buying things I would have bought in a heartbeat when I was younger. My thought process has been “ why buy these toys when u are getting so much older and will just have more for someone to try to get rid of?” My love for toys (and comics) has not diminished one tiny bit but my more realistic side has prevailed over the side of me who wants to continue to grow my collection. So now I just cherish and enjoy what I have and buy only what I think is the absolute coolest. (Gijoe definitely ranks up there with the coolest but I limit myself)

Excellent topic for an episode. I'm going through that now with my parents finalizing their wills. I think that the best thing somebody can do is leave it in writing in a will and have it notarized so whomever is handling the estate can ensure that a collection will pass onto someone who will treasure it. It's a lot less stressful to everyone involved. As for the Skybound kickstarter campaign, it's one I'm having to think very seriously about. For $300, it's a tremendous deal if someone hasn't already completed the Marvel run. Even though I'm fairly close to finishing the series, it seems like too good of a deal to pass up considering what a few of the issues that I'm missing cost nowadays. The hardest decision is to choose the Joe or Cobra cover.

    • @Pegwarmers

The Dark Knight collection Batman mold itself was heavily based around the tooling for Kenner's previous Batman figure from the Super Powers line in 1984. They didn't really start doing totally original new tooling for Batman until the TAS line and then they went even further with it for Batman Forever. Also, I believe the decision to re-use the old Super Powers mold for the Penguin was down to Danny DeVito's on screen appearance being considered too grotesque to release as a children's toy. I always thought the TAS one looked enough like movie Penguin that I always just used that one.

The 89 prototype was a Super Powers Batman for sure.
